Sarah was born in Seoul, South Korea, and moved to the United States after first grade. She grew up in Georgia and lived in Atlanta while attending Georgia Tech where she studied Literature, Media, and Communications with a concentration in Interaction Design and Science, Technology, & Culture.
After college, she worked as a user experience designer and lived in Santa Cruz before moving up to Bellingham and now Seattle.
"I still remember the first time I saw someone working with clay. I was probably just 10 years old. I was instantly fascinated that you could create something so beautiful using such a simple and organic material. When I finally had access to a pottery studio in college, I spent hours trying to learn on my own after a close friend gave me a crash course on throwing. After COVID-19, when I finally had access to a pottery studio, I jumped right in and spent countless hours learning everything I could. Pottery is both a therapeutic and creative outlet for me, and I am honored to facilitate others to find joy and creativity through ceramics at Yu Tang Ceramics."
Sarah hopes that her experience in user experience design can translate to creating functional pieces and helping foster a safe place for others to experiment with and learn ceramics.
