All about Yu Tang Ceramics.

Yu Tang Ceramics Studio & Gallery is a Chinese American owner-operated ceramic studio and gallery space located in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. The studio offers group and private classes, seasonal workshops, and studio memberships. This is a safe space for all to mindfully explore clay, personal expression, and identity. Our programming centers on building community and relationships with partnering organizations, students, studio members, teachers, staff, resident artists, and featured artists in the gallery.

Our mission is to enhance the accessibility to the ceramic arts in Seattle by providing a variety of programming available regardless of race, class, gender, age, ability, education, country of birth, citizenship, religion, financial income, and sexual orientation.

The studio is housed in a beautiful, renovated 2,500 square foot craftsman, easily accessible by mass transit, car, bicycle, or foot from all parts of the city. It is bright and spacious, climate-controlled building with AC, plenty of windows, a front porch, and a small garden out front. In addition, we are extremely grateful to be able to offer all students and studio members the following:

  • The main studio area has 17 wheels, a slab roller, tablespace for wedging and hand building, and 3 studio sinks available for use.

  • We have 3 kilns on-site that are fired multiple times a week. Kilns are fired to mid-range cone 5. We will occasionally host a raku workshop as well.

  • We have over 150 different glaze combinations available. All of our clay is mid-range, and supplied from Tacoma’s Clay Art Center or reclaimed/pugged in house. We offer porcelain, Oregon brown, white stoneware, and pugged clay.

  • Our studio is ADA accessible, and we have a wheelchair compatible wheel. Please reach out to yutangceramics@gmail.com if you have any questions or requests regarding accessibility. We do our best to accommodate all.
